Karen Klein is a photographer/visual artist from St. Paul, MN and Sarasota, FL. She has an MFA in Studio Arts Photography from the University of Minnesota. In 2006, Klein came back to making her art after years in the corporate environment.

One method she uses is to combine her film and digital imagery to create a visual narrative that explores the intersection of dream, desire and memory in an emotive form of visual storytelling. She draws from a collection of iconic images to create new perspectives in which her stories unfold.

In her new work, Key Moments, Klein documents intimate mementos of a specific place and time that are easily overlooked. And by recording them visually, she gives them significance, acknowledging the aforementioned overlooked as a new found thing of beauty.

Klein’s work is widely exhibited, most recently in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; and is in numerous private and public collections, including recent acquisition by the University of Minnesota’s Boynton Healthcare Collection, the Collaborative Law Institute, Minneapolis, the Ritz Carlton, Sarasota and Four Pillars Health, Lakewood Ranch, FL. Her images appeared in numerous editions of INÚTIL Revista, a Portuguese photography and literary publication.

She is also the creator of the Broken Circle – Children of Divorce and Separation project that combines her photographs with narrative, available as a book in English and Spanish at Amazon.com.
